ESL CSGO Pro League Season 12 will now be an online event as per safety reasons due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Additionally, during 2021, the Malta government agreed to host some ESL Pro League events. Even though the previous ESL season was online, Malta’s Government still wishes to pursue the whole business partnership.

ESL Pro League Season 12 Format

Season 12 is all set to take place throughout five regions, comprising Asia, Oceania, South and North America, and Europe. Europe retains the highest at $450,000 for the prize money, accompanied by North America with $225,000. The remaining regions will compete for each for $25,000.

ESL Pro League Season 12 Participating Teams

Most of those greatest CSGO teams will be aiming to win one of the season’s most essential tournaments beginning on September 1 and concluding on October 6. The teams that have already confirmed their involvement include Na’Vi, Vitality, BIG, OG, Fnatic, G2, mousesports, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Heroic, Astralis, FaZe Clan, and more.

Three teams are currently unconfirmed for North America, but Team Liquid, EG, FURIA, 100 Thieves, and Triumph will be a part of the event.

ESL Pro League and Malta 2020 Online

Malta’s Government and ESL also stretched their cooperation deal until 2021. While it is going to be an online event this season, there are a few expectations that 2021 might be the year to switch to in-arena competitions.

In fact, there will be just 24 total teams participating in the year 2021. It was the desire of the organizer to minimize the number of teams for the preceding iteration. Moving online also involved a lot of compromises, such as the number of teams. Thirteen slots have already got allocated in 2021 for teams with ESL contracts. As a consequence, other teams can only expect to receive nine spots.

Apart from keeping track of the online play currently occurring, the new ESL Malta relationship is already working on the Esports scene’s future activities.
